It looks like rap superstars Lil Wayne, Eminem, Drake, and Travis Barker are going to join forces for a totally dope performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. This crew – super group if you will –represents nearly the entire lineup that got together on the remix of Drake’s “Forever” back in November.
They join a great lineup of presenters and performers including Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, the Dave Matthews Band, Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, Green Day, Lady Antebellum, Maxwell, Pink, and the Zac Brown Band. There will also be a 3-D tribute to Michael Jackson
The Grammy Awards should be awesome this year. Check back next week for a complete wrap on the Grammys!

Normally I go for much heavier fare, but I decided to check out IRM by British actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, mainly because I loved her in two great films, Antichrist, and I’m Not There. Gotta say that I was truly blown away, and when I discovered the entire offering is a deep trip through the 2007 cerebral hemorrhage that nearly killed her, I became instantly fascinated.
The title cut, IRM, is a trippy retelling of the emergency room scene, complete with a keyboard track laid down by Beck, which is an interpretation of the emergency room brain scan. Smokin’ hot tune. Each track is sung with a voice that sounds so fresh and innocent, and in chilling lock-step with the beautiful strings that comprise the base throughout.
Love, love, love the song Le Chat Du Café Des Artistes. Gainsbourg is fluent in French, which has served her well in the French film industry, and this song, sung entirely in French. I had to translate the words into English, which is why I give a third heaping of love. Seriously, with lyrics about dying, then being tossed to the cat, and then later eaten from the cat, what’s not to love, love, love!
I highly recommend IRM for something a little different, a lot haunting, and lyrically beautiful.

Today, the Supreme Court ruled that it’s unconstitutional to put a spending limit on the political campaign contributions that corporations and labor unions can contribute to politicians. They cited the 1st Amendment, calling political contributions a form of free speech.
If you’re tired of money going to causes that only benefit corporations, then check out what musicians like Dave Matthews, Alanis Morissette, Peter Gabriel, Linkin Park, and Slash have put together to help out earthquake victims in Haiti. It’s called Download to Donate and it’s loaded with unreleased music by the musicians and bands involved.
You can visit www.musicforrelief.org to check out the awesome music and download this super hot album. 100% of all donated funds go directly to those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. How sweet is that?
Isn’t it time a donation actually went to help someone in need? Do your part today. Peace.

Take one part Jason Bonham (Foreigner, Led Zeppelin) on drums, add a dash of solo guitarist Joe Bonamassa on guitar, a pinch of Derek Sherinian on keyboards (Dream Theater, Billy Idol, Alice Cooper), and a heaping helping of Glenn Hughes on bass guitar (Deep Purple), mix ‘em all together and you get the first supergroup of 2010, Black Country.
As you can see, a lot of rock and roll heritage graces this new group. They are currently in the studio with engineer Kevin Shirley, and are working on an album that may arrive by late summer. Expect some samples of their music along the way.
The band has laid down six tracks so far, and Shirley is optimistic they’ll have something ready by late summer. I don’t want to wait, but I guess I’m in the same boat as you. The SECOND anything is available from this band I’ll post it here!

Guns ‘n Roses stormed into Winnipeg, Canada on Wednesday night for their first North American concert date to promote their 2008 album, Chinese Democracy. Three hours, and several guitar solos and pyrotechnic displays later, fans left totally blown away by the sheer magnitude of the show.
There was no shortage of anything for this show. The stage, a three-runway behemoth, included several video screens, a stadium’s worth of lighting, tons of pyro and percussion bombs, and confetti cannons worthy of a ticker-tape parade.
In the end Axl and company played a massive 24-song set, and an encore alone that was worth the price of admission, seven song! They continue their tour through Canada until February 4th, and then will make their US debut on February 24th in Charleston, WV.
Stay tuned for Guns n’ Roses concert updates!
