I like Ray J …well, judging by what little I've seen of him, on his VHI love-quest, 'For The Love Of Ray J.'
The show is entertaining. He seems nice enough, kind of soft spoken, genuine, all those pleasant characteristics that we like to imagine people have before we know any better.
But I have wondered why he's famous. And, in light of that curiosity, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one on the face of the planet who connects the name Ray J with the VH1 TV celebrity rather than any great musical accomplishments.
For our edification, however; it turns out Raymond has some music industry accomplishments under his belt. Raised in a gospel-singing household, Raymond J. Norwood recently put out a third album. He's performed with R. Kelly and has had a few songs that did particularly well overseas.
If his current dating show (its second attempt season is currently on the air) doesn't result in a successful pairing, he might want to think about traveling to the UK to find the girl of his dreams. Looks like Ray J's a little more popular over there than in the U.S. anyway.
What's the deal with music stars, entertainers and assorted celebrities' fascination with surgical enhancements? Seems the constant quest for youth and beauty can drive some folks to extreme and sometimes dangerous measures.
This phenomenon, sad as it is, isn't isolated to the U.S. alone. Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano died this week from complications with a gluteoplasty procedure (translation: a butt lift).
The beauty queen, born in Buenos Aires in 1971, was the mother of twin girls, now age 7. Injections from the elective surgery went into Magnano's lungs and brain, resulting in her death.
Vanity is apparently far more costly than Ms. Magnano bargained for. Not to sound insensitive, but I just don't get it. Personally I don't care where my own hind end cares to venture to; I'm not risking my life (or my money) to have some doctor "lift" it.
DJ Peachez, a native of Virginia, passed away today following a brief and currently unconfirmed illness. Some sources indicate she had recently been hospitalized with meningitis and that could very well have been the cause of death.
Despite many personal hardships in her youth, DJP went on to graduate from high school with a 3.9 GPA. The persevering young woman was the first person ever in her family to attend college, and she did so with assorted scholarships and grants that covered much of her tuition. Her bachelor's degree from James Madison U, with a minor in Music Industry and a major in marketing, definitely went to good use.
Ms. Peachez worked in radio for roughly five years, earning a number of fans and followers via Richmond's VA's Power 92, Charlottesville's WNRN public radio and 106.5 The Beat along with her college station at JMU (WXJM).
The music industry career of DJ Peachez was definitely on the rise. She will be missed. We will be sure to report on more details once they are known. Our sympathies go out to all who knew her, and those who missed the opportunity.
Pop music star Miley Cyrus’ tour bus crashed less than 40 miles south of Richmond, Virginia.
Miley was not on the bus when the accident took place early today. At approximately 8:15 a.m., the bus (one of four on Interstate 85, in Dinwiddie VA) overturned after running up on the highway embankment. The male driver, whose name has not yet been released, was killed.
Neither speed or weather contributed to the crash. Over a dozen members of the singer’s production crew were on board. All except for the driver escaped serious injury, according to reports from local authorities. They exited the overturned vehicle through the broken windshield. One person was taken to the hospital due to cuts and bruising.
Cyrus, also known as Hannah Montana, is scheduled to perform this coming Sunday (November 22) in Greensboro, N.C. At this time there have been no reports of a delay in the concert due to the accident.
What do hot rockers do in their free time? When you’re talking about Megadeth’s leader, Dave Mustaine, reading is a favorite pastime.
With Megadeth’s latest album, Endgame earning endless acclaim from loyal fans and new listeners alike, everyone’s interested, once again, in the multi-talented guitarist and lead singer Mustaine.
The thoughtful artist has labeled reading as “the most enlightening activity that there is.” What does Dave Mustaine, rock icon and newly converted Christian, prefer to read? His literary tastes are as varied and far-reaching as his talents. He often delves into non-fiction, including books on finance and practical psychology. Edgar Allen Poe and Aesop are amongst his fictional favorites.
Great literature is often greatly inspiring, particularly to writers. And any fan of Mustaine knows that this man knows how to pen a lyric.
